This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, Office of the Chief Security Officer (OCSO), Headquarters Security Services Division (HSSD).
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Deputy Director of the HSSD, responsible for providing security oversight and managing program compliance to maintain a secure environment for handling and protection of Classified and Sensitive Compartmented Information at multiple headquarters facilities supporting the DHS.
Duties
As a Supervisory Security Specialist, GS-0080-15, your typical work assignments may include:
Managing the DHS-wide Special Security Officer operations of Sensitive Compartmented Information Facilities (SCIFs).
Advising top level DHS officials and components on developments and advances in protective technology and operational security.
Issuing comprehensive written reports, analysis and recommendations to senior civil and Federal government officials.
Reviewing legislative actions, Office of Management and Budget (OMB) issuances, General Services Administration (GSA) regulations, Intelligence Community directives, DHS directives and other government materials for potential impact on the DHS, OCSO, and other activities of the Department.

Requirements

Qualifications
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
1) Ensuring SSO maintain sufficient control and protection of national security information, electronic data and media and classification discussion;
2) Ensuring National Security Information is properly stored, discussed, packaged and transported in accordance with DHS SCI Facility;
3)Reviewing and assesses the reporting and disposition of security violation for all DHS SSO operation in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, Executive Orders, interagency directives, and DHS policies;
4) Reviewing all Special Access Program (SAP) and co-utilization agreements with DHS SCIFs to ensure adherence to all applicable DHS and 1C law and regulations; 5) Providing leadership in serving as the DHS representative for all interagency, intra-agency and intergovernmental working groups, committees, and other governmental and industrial associations, focusing on Special Security Operations.

Time-in-grade: Current General Schedule (GS) federal employees, and those that have served in GS positions within the last 52 weeks, must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade, or a combination of the next lower grade level and an equivalent band in the federal service by the closing of this announcement.
