This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), USCG, Commandant, Civil Rights Directorate, Office of Civil Rights Operations (CG-OOH-2), Civil Rights Region 2, located in Norfolk, VA, and Civil Rights Region 4, located in Houston Tx.
Duties
As an Equal Employment Manager, you will serve as a Civil Rights subject matter and program expert for the United States Coast Guard's Zone assigned; and participate in the development and implementation of program policy.Being a CG civilian makes you a valuable member of the Coast Guard team. Qualifications
At the GS-13 level: Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level in the federal service.
Examples of specialized experience include:
Interpreting and applying current Federal Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) regulations, statutes, executive orders, court decisions, and dispute resolution processes;
Responding to complaints of discrimination; ensuring compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity (EEO) statutes, regulations, and case law; and
Serving as a technical representative for Civil Rights and Equal Opportunity complaints.
Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience,The Office of Personnel Management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.
