The primary purpose of this position is to To serve as Deputy Director, SOF Wargame Center at a major command, sharing with the Center Director the full scope of responsibility for directing the activities of the SOF Wargame Center and, in the director's absence, possesses the same authority and prerogatives.
Duties
Works with the Director in planning, organizing, and overseeing the activities of the SOF Wargame Center.
Participates with the Director in the exercise of supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
Serves as the command focal point for SOF Wargamming programs.
Provides expert advice, leadership and management of SOF WGC staff and stakeholder planning teams in the design, planning, support, and execution of senior leadership-level wargames, rehearsal of concept (ROC)
Represent the SOF WGC in conferences and meetings at internal and external to USSOCOM and maintains liaison with staff planners and functional subject matter experts.

- "This is a Supervisory Position." A 1 year supervisory probationary period is required if applicant selected has not previously met this requirement.
- Work may occasionally require travel away from the normal duty station on military or commercial aircraft.
- Employee may be required to work extended or other than normal duty hours to include evenings and weekends and may be subject to recall.
- Mobility is a condition of employment. The employee must sign an Air Force-wide mobility agreement.
- This position is designated as a Testing Designated Position (TDP) under the Air Force Civilian Drug Testing Program.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Top Secret clearance with access to Sensitive Compartmented Information (SCI).
Qualifications
This is a Term position NTE 13 Months; the individual selected for this position may be extended without further competition. Current Federal civilian employees may apply for this position using "Reinstatement" eligibility and if selected, a break in service of at least 4 calendar days may be required prior to appointment to this position.
QUALIFICATIONS: In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Administrative and Management Positions, Miscellaneous Administration and Program Series, 0301.
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one (1) year of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-13, or equivalent in other pay systems. Specialized experience includes Knowledge of the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to SOF Wargaming and theories related to the mission, management, and operation of Services organizations to provide high level staff guidance. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DOD, Services, subcomponents organizations to provide command level staff guidance and/or SOF Wargaming functions.
FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-13 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-14 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. NOTE: Applicants applying as VEOA candidates who are current GS civil service employees or are prior GS civil service employees within the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of the policies, principles, concepts, guidance, procedures, techniques, and methodologies pertaining to SOF Wargaming and theories related to the mission, management, and operation of Services organizations to provide high level staff guidance.
2. Knowledge of the mission, roles, functions, organizational structures, and operation of DOD, Services, subcomponents organizations to provide command level staff guidance and/or SOF Wargaming functions.
3. Ability to plan, organize, and direct the functions and supervise, mentor, motivate, and appraise the staff of an organization through subordinate supervisors.
4. Ability to analyze, plan, and adjust work operations of subordinate organizational segments to meet program requirements and objectives within available resources.
5. Ability to communicate, both orally and in writing, clearly, concisely, and with technical accuracy.
6. Knowledge of accepted accounting, budgeting, funds control, standard contracting regulations, practices, procedures, resale, and inventory management principles with ability to interpret and analyze financial date.
PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
