This position is located at the Biloxi VA Medical Center located in Biloxi, Mississippi. The Program Support Assistant (PSA) for Behavioral Health Services (BHS) performs a wide variety of administrative management duties.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Performs work related to the practical and technical aspects of office administration, including issues related to personnel administration, student and residency program administration and support, primary timekeeping for the service line, data processing, project tracking and file management.
Completes requests for personnel actions and assists with writing position descriptions and functional statements.
Assists leadership in the preparation and completion of the performance appraisal cycle.
Maintains the six-part folders, per policy.
Tracks Mental Health staff credentialing.
Serves as training coordinator for the Mental Health Service, including serving as the TMS administrator.
Collects, compiles, enters and/or tracks statistical information in support of program operations.
Performs a variety of administrative functions and assignments necessary to coordinate the management of the office, such as, purchasing functions to include procurement of services, products, supplies, and/or equipment.
Maintains a calendar of appointments, meetings, conference calls, and scheduled leave as well as coordinates meetings, prepares travel papers, schedules conferences, and assists the treatment team with all administrative functions, including time and attendance.
Other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:00am - 3:30pm.

Qualifications
TYPING PROFICIENCY: This position requires the skills of a qualified typist. In addition to meeting the experience and/or education requirements, you must be able to type at least 40 words per minute. ~AND~
To qualify for this position at the GS-6 level, applicants must meet the following:
Specialized Experience: You must have at least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-5) in Federal Service, that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of a Program Support Assistant (Office Automation), GS-6 position, and that is typically in or related to the work of this position. Specialized experience includes: Experience performing administrative organizational work in a complex, administrative office environment; experience with laws relating to medical health information, confidentiality, privacy protection, and release of medical information; performing a range of patient care and administrative services at a medical center to plan, implement, and advise on various activities relative to quality management/improvement; utilizing a variety of software programs (e.g., Microsoft Office, file management, Computerized Patient Data System, EXCEL, etc.) to gather, analyze and display data utilizing templates, graphics, and spreadsheets; and experience with verbal and written communication in a variety of settings with personnel at all levels to include responding to congressional inquiries.
