The Data Platforms Branch (ADO-120) implements and supports several enterprise capabilities for data management and analysis. The members of this branch are responsible for engaging all FAA stakeholders of these services to shape the continuous evolution of the enterprise services under their area of responsibility. Services under ADO-120 include but are not limited to: EIM Data Platform, enterprise data warehouses managed by AIT, data exchange and API Infrastructure.

Duties

We are looking for an energetic, experienced, IT Specialist to join FAA’s CDO team as a data engineer for the EIM Data Platform. The incumbent will be responsible for expanding and optimizing our data and data pipeline architecture, as well as optimizing data flow and collection for cross functional teams. The selected candidate will also be responsible for the product ownership of the data pipeline and delivery tools: StreamSets, Denodo, and Starburst. The ideal candidate is an experienced data pipeline builder and data wrangler who enjoys optimizing data systems and building them from the ground up. The incumbent will support our software developers, database architects, data analysts and data scientists on data initiatives and will ensure optimal data delivery architecture is consistent throughout ongoing projects. They must be self-directed and comfortable supporting the data needs of multiple teams, systems and products. The right candidate will be excited by the prospect of optimizing or even re-designing our company’s data architecture to support our next generation of products and data initiatives.

Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position.Specialized experience is: Experience identifying, designing, and implementing internal process improvements to include automating manual processes, optimizing data delivery, and re-designing infrastructure for greater scalability in a cloud environment and experience designing and developing data pipelines using commercial-off-the-shelf products such as StreamSets or Informatica.In addition to the minimum qualifications, the following has been determined to be a Selective Placement Factor for this position. This means possession of this criterion is part of the minimum qualifications and is essential to perform the duties and responsibilities of this position.
