About the Position: The selectee for this position serves as a Security Specialist in the Office of Security & Law Office Enforcement in Baltimore, MD.
Duties
You will plan, develop, evaluate, implement, and review the programs of the Security and Law Enforcement Office.
You will request national security and public trust background investigations via the Personnel Security Investigations Portal (PSIP) on active-duty military, army civilian and contractor employees, fingerprinting and interviewing these personnel.
Serves as Security Specialist performing duties related to law enforcement, crime prevention, Antiterrorism/Force Protection, and physical, personnel, industrial and information security programs as well as Foreign Disclosure and other subprograms.
Perform physical security inspections of the District Headquarters, including restricted areas and Mission Essential and Vulnerable Areas, dams, resource management operations, Area Offices, and Integrated Program Offices.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be a US Citizen.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final Top Secret security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid State issued United States driver's license.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education/experience requirements described below. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1.) Physical security experience such as conducting inspections of facilities or properties 2.) Personnel security such as processing or tracking security clearances 3.) Writing reports on investigations outlining findings or conclusions. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M. [remove LL.M., if unrelated] in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: [insert applicable field(s) of study].

Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.
