You will serve as a SECURITY ASSISTANT (ALARM MONITOR) in the Provost Marshal Office/Marine Corps Police Department of MARINE CORPS AIR STATION MIRAMAR.
Duties
You will monitor closed circuit television (CCTV) screens trained on sensitive areas critical assets for a variety of security reasons and immediately supply information to the dispatcher.
You will monitor and/or operate electronic security systems involving numerous alarm panels/monitors callboxes, maintenance-related items, intrusion detection systems, video motion detection systems, ground-based radars, and various security alarms.
You will monitor and operate the Mass Notification System (MNS) as directed to ensure proper dissemination of emergency mass notification messages throughout the installation, and support and conduct monthly testing of the MNS, as directed.
You will prepare and maintain a properly documented alarm control log of all alarm conditions to include setting, activation of all alarm conditions to include setting, activation, and other pertinent alarm information.
You will assist PMO/MCPD administrative and operational personnel; and perform additional duties and responsibilities as directed in the installation SOP and the Marine Corps Law Enforcement Manual.
You will register vehicles aboard the installation and issue appropriate vehicle access passes. You will receive and process Sponsored Visitor Forms.
You will dispatch, manage and maintain vehicle fleet to include controlling, issuing, retrieving vehicles and maintaining accountability of equipment assigned to each vehicle.
You will assist in the administration of Traffic Court hearings, recording points, suspensions and revocations; record final dispositions in appropriate databases; process, copy and distribute notices.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen. Must be determined suitable for federal employment. Must participate in the direct deposit pay program. Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
- Work regularly includes assignment to a rotating shift, including weekends and holidays. Overtime may be required.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.

- Generally, current federal employees applying for GS jobs must serve at least one year at the next lower grade level. This requirement is called time-in-grade. Time-in-grade requirements must be met by the closing date of this announcement.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or pass the test. You will be subject to random testing.
- This is a Mission Essential position. You will be required to ensure organization or facility continuity of operations and/or completion of tasks that are considered essential to the mission designated by a local or command decision.
- This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. You will be required to sign a DD-Form-2760, Qualification to possess firearms or ammunition.

- Must satisfactorily pass the Police Applicant Suitability Review (PASR) investigation.

- Must complete the MCESS training as provided by the physical security section.
- This position is covered by the 1996 Lautenberg Amendment to the Gun Control Act of 1968. Persons convicted of a misdemeanor or felony crime of domestic violence are not eligible for the position.
- This is a Department of Navy Drug Testing Designated Position (TDP). Required to undergo pre-employment urinalysis requirements and sustainment drug testing.
- Must pass a medical evaluation and pass periodic re-tests as required.
- Failure to meet conditions of employment may result in disciplinary action or termination.
Qualifications

GS-07: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-06 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: performing administrative office security support, monitoring and troubleshooting electronic security systems, intrusion detection systems, alarms, mass notification and closed circuit television systems.
GS-06: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-05 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: preparing and maintaining security files and records, drafting routing correspondence relating to security and providing customer service support of security programs (e.g. Security systems, Intrusion Detection Systems, alarm, mass notification and CCTV systems).
