You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN in the Facilities Management Division of NAV FACILITIES ENGINEERING COMMAND SE.

Duties

You will use MAXIMO to maintain data regarding facilities maintenance. You will use data for financial, administrative and operational management of the Public Works business. You will evaluate Navy infrastructure and determine methods to improve preventative maintenance effectiveness. You will develop optimum maintenance strategies for different categories of equipment and building systems using the various technologies available. You will determine requirements for preventative maintenance programs. You will determine requirements for service contracts.

Requirements

  • Within the Department of Defense (DoD), the appointment of retired military members within 180 days immediately following retirement date to a civilian position is subject to the provisions of 5 United States Code 3326.
  • Males born after 12-31-59 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position is covered under the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act (DAWIA). You must be certified as a Career Field F - Facilities Engineering Level II. Certification is required within 24 months of appointment.
  • This position is subject to work an uncommon tour, including nights, weekends, and holidays to meet mission requirements. Overtime or night differential pay and/or unusual duty hours may be required.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) utilizing engineering information system technology to performing maintenance, repair, and construction procedures; 2) selecting and establishing proper methods and procedures for asset-preventative maintenance; 3) analyzing and evaluating mechanical and electrical systems for repair, maintenance and construction; and 4) reading and understanding contract plans, specifications, and drawings.
