This position is located within the Diversity, Equity, Inclusion Office at the VA Western New York Healthcare System in Buffalo, New York serving as the Health Equity & Minority Veterans Program Coordinator and is responsible for developing, planning, managing and implementing this program.
Duties

Applies solid communication, public relations, and health administration skills to ensure resources are utilized effectively and efficiently;
Provides information and promotes VA's high quality care;
Plans, initiates, and implements comprehensive outreach techniques to enhance the understanding of the program among Veterans;
Develops programs and initiatives in order to increase minority Veteran engagement and improve health equity measures;
Plans, supports and participates in various community outreach initiatives to build relationships with the diverse Veterans we serve and to provide comprehensive and proactive promotions of organization's programs and services and how to enroll for VA health care;
Provides comprehensive and proactive promotions of programs and services
Participates in and reports out on a minimum of 100 monthly hours of community outreach specifically targeted to the Minority Veterans population;
Implements, designs, and manages a facility wide outreach calendar in order to gather and maintain all facility outreach data;
Coordinates and leads the Facility Health Equity and Minority Veterans Committee meetings;
Collaborates with other VA Staff to identify gaps in service delivery and ensures minority Veterans are afforded equal access to all VA healthcare services and benefits;
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm

Qualifications
To meet the minimum qualifications of this position, all applicants must meet one of the following:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: At least one (1) full year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level (GS-9) in the Federal Service that has given you the particular knowledge, skills and abilities required to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience includes: performing analytical, evaluative, and/or advisory work within a clinical/healthcare environment; assisting with planning, managing and coordinating outreach and administrative services essential to the effective operation of a program; assisting with program coordination tasks to include coordinating community and outreach events; ensuring adequate staffing, budgeting, equipment/support, and materials are available; collects and analyzes data; prepares a variety of reports, forms, and correspondence; possess exceptional skill in communicating in person and in writing with individuals at all levels of responsibility; utilizes various computer applications (i.e. Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel) to accomplish administrative duties. EDUCATION: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree in a related field of study that demonstrates your ability to perform the duties of this position. COMBINATION: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed graduate-level education (beyond the second year) and specialized experience, as described above, which meet the total experience requirements for this grade level. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: Assignments regularly involve extended periods of walking, standing, bending, and stooping to execute logistics for outreach events; requires to regularly pick up loads of 15 pounds such as boxes of outreach materials to include publications and a large pop-up tent used for outdoor outreach activities to push carts of supplies for outreach events. Work is typically performed in an adequately lighted and climate-controlled office. Will require travel within the local and regional area of VA WNY Healthcare System.
