This position is a IT Specialist (DATAMGT), GS- 2210-12, working in Baileys Crossroads, VA, or Fort Collins, CO, for the R9-Division of Budget and Technical Support.
This is a term position expected to last 13 months but may be extended up to a total of 4 years at management discretion.
Duties
The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (USFWS), Ecological Services (ES), has developed and is responsible for improving and supporting an extensive integrated system, ECOSphere. ECOSphere is a complex network of interconnected components in the Cloud, containing both custom and COTS software and data integrations, that work together in support of the mission of FWS and ES and that are designed to provide biologists and our partners with tools to help do their work and provide information to the public.
Data Management Specialist Job Duties:
As a IT Specialist (DATAMGT) with the Branch of Data Integration (BDI) the incumbent will play a crucial role in the development, support, and implementation of the ECOSphere Data Management Framework. The incumbent will also ensure the data lifecycle is managed and supported effectively and securely, ensuring that all data integration projects are delivered successfully, and meeting Ecological Services business objectives and user needs.

Collaborate with USFWS stakeholders to understand their reporting and analytical needs and to recommend solutions that enable them to access and analyze data effectively
Work with other BDI data members and developers to foster a collaborative work environment

In order to qualify for this position you must meet the Minimum Qualification.
Minimum Qualification [GS-12]
One year of specialized experience comparable in scope and responsibility to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal service performing work in or directly related to the position to be filled. Experience may include: (1) using object-relational database management systems (e.g., AGOL, ESRI Enterprise, PostgreSQL, MySQL, or similar); (2) experience with data management frameworks, data strategies, data governance, data architecture, data integration, data lifecycle management, and metadata management, quality assurance control/review; (3) using data management policies or procedures related to data analysis and tools to address environmental and conservation problems and issues; (4) explaining data procedures, regulations, and processes in relation to natural resources conservation laws and authorities (e.g., Endangered Species Act; Fish and Wildlife Coordination Act, etc.); (5) assisting with data integration of data information systems related to fish and wildlife conservation; (6) providing project management support to manage complex data and decision support systems; (7) ensuring the availability of reliable and high-quality data used for reporting, analyzing, and decision making.

Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
