You will serve as a Electrical Worker (WG-08) or Electrician (WG-10) in the FMCRA VRT Department, Norlfolk Production Branch of FLTREADCEN DET MID ATLANTIC PAX RIVER.

Duties

You will operate electrical test equipment to troubleshoot electrical components and circuits. You will visually observe and test electrical systems with circuit analyzers, oscilloscopes, or other test equipment. You will maintain electrical systems to verify optimum operational condition and prevent issues. You will review electrical drawings to determine the material and equipment to be used for proposed work requests. You will determine tools and techniques to use for operation of electrical equipment. You will test electrical systems and components to determine the need for repairs and preventative maintenance.

  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • This position is considered Key/Emergency-Essential. You will be required to provide immediate and continuing support to ensure the success of combat operations or the availability of combat-essential systems.

The Screen-out Element for this position is: ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION I have the ability to perform the most difficult and complex tasks including 1) Installing, repairing, and troubleshooting a variety of electrical control systems, equipment, and circuitry; 2) Utilizing test instruments such as tension meters, oscilloscopes, and voltmeters, to locate and remove faulty components; 3) Operating and maintaining pressure indicators, soldering equipment, micrometers, and other common hand tools to repair and overhaul electronic components; 4) Connecting and installing equipment within complex electrical/electronic machinery related to shipboard lighting, power distribution, radar, heating, and ventilation; 5) Drawing and interpreting schematics and wiring diagrams to provide technical information. I am considered an expert and work with a high degree of independence.
