Duties

WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING DAY TO DAY As a Public Affairs Specialist, you will use your knowledge of and experience with the Office of Intergovernmental and External Affairs to optimize business results and customer experience by: Responding to a broad range of agency activities and inquiries by mail and over the telephone. Speaking to a variety of groups and participating in stakeholder meetings to promote the dissemination of information concerning agency programs and maintaining community relationships. Advising Regional Director and others directly involved on handling problems related to the organization's programs; preparing Regional Director with appropriate responses. Arranging for Regional Director or agency representatives to speak to local civic or service groups; informing local community of activities through various media available. Creating presentations, writing speeches, developing social media campaigns, and planning community outreach events for the Office of the Regional Director.

Qualifications

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR Minimum Qualifications: GS-11 grade level A. You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-9 grade level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector performing at least two (2) of the following: Monitoring the status of planned media events or conferences; Developing information to brief members of the public in support of media campaigns; Disseminating and presenting factual information to stakeholders concerning an organization's programs or objectives. OR B. Have a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M., if related. OR C. Have a combination of experience as described in A above and education as described in B above. GS-12 grade level You must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 grade level in the Federal Service obtained in either the private or public sector performing at least three (3) of the following: Communicating official information on organizational policy or news to stakeholders and the general public through digital communications platforms; Analyzing and evaluating the overall effectiveness of program operations; Developing media outreach programs to publicize departmental programs or policies to national audiences; Creating reports on social media analytics for senior officials regarding departmental campaigns. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. If such experience is on a part-time basis, you must provide the average number of hours worked per week as well as the beginning and ending dates of the experience so it can be fully credited.
