This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate.
The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the Chief Information Security Officer for the Directorate, managing a team of Compliance and Information System Security Officers, who will collectively ensure compliance with all required Information Security laws, regulations, orders and mandates.
Non-BU: This is a non-bargaining unit position.
Duties
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (INFOSEC), GS-2210-15, your typical work assignments may include:
Analyzes, evaluates, and verifies IT system security related events/incidents. Advises agencies on strategies to protect and secure sensitive information and systems. Develops products and provides services targeted at enhancing the performance of IT programs and projects.
Develops policies and procedures to ensure information systems reliability and accessibility and to prevent and defend against unauthorized access to systems, networks, and data.
Prepares detailed status reports and briefings addressing problems and recommended courses of action for senior management officials.
Maintains familiarity with IT Security Policy development and implementation methods, risk management, and security test and evaluation methodologies. Advises agencies on developing a Cost/Benefit Analysis for implementing security protection strategies.

Qualifications
Basic Requirements:
For all positions individuals must have IT-related experience demonstrating each of the four competencies listed below.
Attention to Detail - Is thorough when performing work and conscientious about attending to detail.
Customer Service - Works with clients and customers (that is, any individuals who use or receive the services or products that your work unit produces, including the general public, individuals who work in the agency, other agencies, or organizations outside the Government) to assess their needs, provide information or assistance, resolve their problems, or satisfy their expectations; knows about available products and services; is committed to providing quality products and services.
Oral Communication - Expresses information (for example, ideas or facts) to individuals or groups effectively, taking into account the audience and nature of the information (for example, technical, sensitive, controversial); makes clear and convincing oral presentations; listens to others, attends to nonverbal cues, and responds appropriately.
Problem Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations. AND
Specialized Experience:
You qualify for the GS-15 grade level if you possess one year of specialized experience, equivalent to the GS-14 grade level in the Federal government, performing duties such as:
1) Assessing IT program governance policy needs; 2) Developing products and providing services targeted at enhancing the performance of IT programs and projects; 3) Providing technical advice, guidance, and recommendations to management on critical IT issues, and strategies to protect and secure sensitive information; 4) Overseeing technical work of subordinate personnel and determining performance standards.
Substitution of education in lieu of specialized experience may not be used for this grade level.
