This position is located in U.S. Coast Guard (USCG), Assistant Commandant for Capabilities (CG-7), Policy & Competency Development Division (CG-7311), Washington, DC.  

Duties

This position serves as a technical advisor within the Office of Boat Forces and represents the office on various Coast Guard and interagency work groups, and other technical bodies focused on capability and/or the Boat Forces Reserve Program. 

Requirements

  • Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
  • U.S. Citizenship is required.
  • Time-in-grade requirements must be met by closing date.
  • A one year probationary period maybe required.

Qualifications

To qualify for the GS-13: Applicants must possess one year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lowest grade level (GS-12 level) in the federal service. Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Specialized experience includes experience that involved extensive operational experience in Boat Forces Contracting and Reserve Force Program AND completion of Level II Contracting Officer Representative (COR) training requirements. There is no educational substitution at this grade level. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.The Office of Personnel management (OPM) must authorize employment offers made to current or former political appointees.  If you are currently, or have been within the last 5 years, a political Schedule A, Schedule, C, Non-career SES or Presidential Appointee employee in the Executive Branch, you must disclose this information to the Human Resources Office.
