About the Position: Serve as a Training Specialist for New Equipment Training (NET) and displaced equipment training for Programs within Materiel Fielding and Training (MF and T) and TACOM.

Duties

Manage curriculum and training materials as training specialist responsible for overarching functions of NET development and management. Responsible for training management such as classroom or training area set up, coordinate tools that are needed to execute training, track student attendance and participation, and manage student records. Manage or assist in training development as a system and training subject matter expert making recommendations on training methods, aids, hands-on exercises, classroom instructions and test/evaluation of students. Provide mission and instructor feedback to team lead and supervisor on all mission elements. Provide overall maintenance of their assigned courses and determine the need for and initiates changes/updates in course content. Perform maintenance; perform equipment modifications, installation and assembly needed to prepare equipment. Demonstrate proficiency in tools and mediums used to develop, edit, or deliver training.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment.
  • Position requires a pre-employment physical, and annually thereafter.
  • Position requires a valid state Driver's License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
  • Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card.
  • When required participate in hazardous material training.
  • May be required to handle Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL).
  • Position requires the wear and use of prescribed personnel protective equipment.
  • Position requires working in adverse conditions or outdoors in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in-climate weather.
  • Position requires working in loud environments to include but not limited to the motor pool, weapons live fire range, and explosive ordnance.
  • Incumbent must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Position requires working on, in and around, climbing up on, entering vehicles and operating in confined spaces.
  • Position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 50-75% of the time.
  • The incumbent is required to obtain the initial instructor certification required with recertification required every 5 years after the initial.

Qualifications

Position may be filled as a temporary promotion or detail NTE 12 months by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions may be extended up to a maximum of five years. Position may be made permanent without further competition. Employees are not eligible for a detail in the OCONUS area unless already residing in the same overseas area (foreign or non-foreign) as the position being filled. Employees currently located in OCONUS (foreign or non-foreign) are not eligible for a detail to a CONUS position. Specialized Experience: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled such as: Delivering operator or maintenance training within an organization; reviewing training methods or course materials, aids, devices, etc for quality assurance purposes; and utilizing automated training tracking systems for attendance, participation, or student records. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Instructional DesignLeadershipPlanning and Evaluating Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-11).
