This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for certain positions to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service.
About the Position: This position is with the ILSC, Field Support Operations Material MGT & FLDG division located in Warren, Michigan.
Duties
Oversees all instructor systems and participates in meetings with program management, sustainment and contractor personnel as training subject matter expert.
Manages training schedule for events and teams.
Advises, mentors, and trains instructors on all aspects of training for both system specific and instructional functions.
Leads the team in identifying, distributing and balancing workload and tasks among employees in accordance with established workflow, skill level and occupational specialization.
Prepares reports and maintain records of work accomplishments and administrative information.
Researches, learns and applies a wide range of qualitative and quantitative methods to identify, assess, analyze and improve team effectiveness.
Monitors and reports on the status and progress of work.
Provides Subject Matter Expert (SME) input during TADSS capability development efforts for and their integration with and simulation of supported weapons systems.
Requirements
- This is a TERM position NTE 13 months and may be extended up to 8 years. Position may be made permanent without further competition.
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
- Position requires a pre-employment physical, and annually thereafter.
- Position requires a valid state Driver’s License in one of the 50 U.S. states or possessions to operate vehicles or the incumbent must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver’s License.
- Incumbent may be required to obtain and maintain a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Government Travel Card.
- When required, participate in hazardous material training.
- May be required to handle Petroleum, Oil and Lubricants (POL).
- Position requires the wear and use of prescribed personnel protective equipment.
- Position requires working in adverse conditions or outdoors in all weather conditions including seasonally hot or cold temperatures and in-climate weather.
- Position requires working in loud environments to include but not limited to the motor pool, weapons live fire range, and explosive ordnance.
- Incumbent must be able to lift to 50 pounds.
- Position requires working on, in and around, climbing up on, entering vehicles and operating in confined spaces.
- Position requires temporary duty (TDY) travel up to 75% of the time.
- Initial instructor certification required with recertification required every 5 years after the initial.

Specialized Experience: Your resume must reflect one year of specialized experience to include: (1) Leading team members to meet program goals; (2) Gathering information to instruct courses in advanced technical systems; and (3) Utilizing qualitative and/or quantitative methods to improve team efficiency. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-12).
