This position is part of the National Archives and Records Administration, Research Services' Special Project Team, in the Office of Research Services. As an Archives Technician you will perform work that supports access to archival holdings and physical and intellectual control over records. The work encompasses a broad range of functions including processing, arranging, describing, digitizing, reformatting for records, assistance to agency customers, and other customer services.

The following are the duties of this position at the GS-07. If you are selected at a lower grade level, you will have the opportunity to learn to perform all these duties and will receive training to help you grow in this position.

Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements by the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience for the GS-05 grade level is defined as one year of experience at the GS-04 grade level, or equivalent, that is typically in or related to the position and experience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position. Specialized experience for this position is defined as experience:
Communicating to customer inquiries, verbally or in writing; AND
Experience with using scanning equipment and/or preparing documents for digitization by creating metadata or reformatting records; AND
Following and referencing policy and procedures.
OR
You may substitute education for specialized experience as follows: 4 years above high school.
OR
You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
NOTE: Only education in excess of the first 60 semester hours (i.e., beyond the second year) is creditable toward meeting the specialized experience requirement. One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
