You will serve as a INDUSTRIAL EQUIPMENT MECHANIC LEADER in the POTABLE WATER BRANCH, UTILITIES DIVISION of NAVAL FACILITIES ENG COMMAND HAWAII.
Duties
You will serve as working leader over three or more trades and crafts employees engaged in the operation, maintenance, inspection, and repair within the Navy's Potable Water System.
You will determine the nature of system malfunctions, identify the probable cause, specify the extent of repairs necessary, and plans needed repairs.
You will lead the group in performing the required repairs and correct deficiencies identified during the initial inspections.
You will lead the disassembly and examination of the utility equipment and its associated components to identify malfunctions using precision measuring tools.
You will identify and recommend alterations/modifications needed to improve the operation, reliability and efficiency of the utility systems.
You will make regular rounds of the systems, reading gauges and meters, making needed adjustments, taking and recording readings, resetting tripped circuit breakers, performing chemical tests, and adding chemicals, lubricants, and water.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
- You will be required to maintain a current Hawaii Distribution System Operator certification.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain eligibility for continuous unescorted access to the Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard Controlled Industrial Area (CIA) and access to other restricted/controlled areas as a condition of employment.

1) Performing the required repairs and corrects deficiencies identified during the initial inspections;
2) Recommending and initiating changes to the division's inspection and maintenance guidelines, which would prevent system failure and/or extend system lift; and
3) Utilizing Section's inspection and maintenance guidelines and manufacturer's brochures or manuals.
