Duties
You will perform a variety of routine duties in support of professional engineers and engineering technicians.
You will assist engineers and technicians in preparing work procedures, which sequence work and/or testing and provides explicit instructions for inspections, connection of temporary systems and/or testing of equipment.
You will assist engineers and technicians in reviewing inspection data such as inspection reports and deficiencies.
You will assist engineers and technicians in preparing changes to specific technical procedures, both locally developed or detailed technical requirements, established by higher authority.
Requirements

- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.
- Work is performed in areas where potentially harmful physical and chemical agents are present (e.g. fumes, dust, heat, ionizing and non-ionizing radiation and chemicals). You will be required to participate in medical surveillance programs.
Qualifications
TO QUALIFY FOR GS-5: Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-4 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying standardized rules or procedures of engineering to assist higher-graded engineers or technicians in a variety of engineering specializations.TO
QUALIFY FOR GS-4: Your resume must demonstrate at least six months of general experience plus six months of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-3 level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: Applying basic or commonly used rules or procedures of engineering to assist higher-graded engineers or technicians in a variety of engineering specializations.

Education
Education may be substituted for experience as follows:
For the GS-5:
- Successful completion of a full 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree (a) with major study in an appropriate field of engineering, construction, or industrial technology; or (b) that included at least 24 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR
- A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience.
For the GS-4:
- Two years of post-secondary study that included at least 12 semester hours in any combination of courses such as engineering, engineering or industrial technology, construction, physics, drafting, surveying, physical science, or mathematics; OR
- A combination of education and experience as described above that equates to one year of experience.
