About the Position: Serves as the principal executive Staff Action Control Officer (SACO) and advisor to the Executive Office, Directors and senior decision makers within the Deputy Chief of Staff for Force Health Protection (DCS-FHP), U.S. Army Medical Command and the Office of The Surgeon General (OTSG), located in Falls Church, Virginia.

Duties

Provides executive administrative control and direction for the Deputy Chief of Staff for Force Health Protection-level staff actions, executive correspondence, military communications, and transmittals essential. Research may require contacting AMEDD Field Operating Agencies/Activities (FOAs)and/or elements outside the AMEDD for additional information. Provides technical guidance to the DCS-FHP Staff, subordinate directorates, and the Defense Centers for Public Health, and the Defense Health Agency on executive administrative policies and procedures. Conducts final review for compliance with established DoD, Army, MEDCOM and DCS-FHP staff policies and procedures. Reviews and interprets DCS-FHP, AMEDD, Army and DoD regulations and policy memoranda on related issues, ensuring accuracy and compliance. Serves as senior executive administrative and technical advisor to the DCS-FHP Executive Staff, and all Directorates and Offices under the DCS-FHP.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Temporary Duty (TDY) travel require up to 5% of the time.
  • Incumbent is subject to obtain and maintain Top Secret security clearance.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes applying executive administrative control and direction for staff actions, executive correspondence, military communications and transmittals essential to effectively manage the policies, programs, missions and functions of the Army Medical Department's and Talent Management Enterprise. Reviews and analyzes incoming Executive Office staff actions and decision correspondence, e.g., Congressional Inquiries; OPM Regulations/Agreements, performs in-depth research and utilizes comprehensive data gathering techniques to obtain background information for required actions through various fact-finding methods.. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11).
