As a Single Family Housing Specialist, you will:
Apply policy and procedural instructions issued to the branch from the branch chief or Program Director, including provision of FHA Handbooks, manuals and operations methods and procedures within the branch to conform to Departmental requirements.
Participate in conferences or training of developers, appraisers, inspectors, architects, Direct Endorsement (DE) underwriters, mortgagee personnel, state entities, various real estate organizations, and internal staff with regard to HUD/FHA requirements and procedures, and to administering the Secretarial priorities.
Speak for and represent the Homeownership Center and FHA in industry and public meetings concerning all matters relating to the single family housing programs.
Inform mortgagees, mortgagors, developers, state entities, non-profit organizations, other federal agencies (i.e., Veterans Administration - Small Business Administration - Internal Revenue Service), counseling agencies, attorneys, certified public accountants (CPAs), and the public on the technical phases of approval and underwriting activities.
Qualifications
You must meet the following requirements within 30 days of the closing date of this announcement.
Specialized Experience: For the GS-09 grade level, you must have one year (52 full weeks) of specialized experience at a level of difficulty and responsibility equivalent to the GS-07 grade level in the Federal service. Specialized Experience for this position includes:
Research, compile, and analyze information for compliance with policies, rules, and regulations; AND
Analyzing problems to identify significant factors, gather pertinent data, and recognize solutions related to Single Family loan programs; AND
Plan and organize work; AND
Communicate effectively orally and in writing; AND
Evaluating/recommending eligibility and compliance of Single Family mortgage loans and as necessary recommend action to be taken with any identified problems
OR Education: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: You may substitute education for general or specialized experience as follows: Master's or equivalent graduate degree, or 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree, or LL.B. or J.D.; in order to be qualifying, education must be in a related field.
OR Combination: You may qualify by a combination of experience and education. To combine education and experience, the total percentage of experience at the required grade level compared to the specialized experience requirement, as well as the percentage of completed education compared to the education requirement must equal at least 100 percent. Only graduate level education in excess of the first 18 semester hours may be combined with experience.
Experience may have been gained in either the public, private sector or volunteer service. One year of experience refers to full-time work; part-time work is considered on a prorated basis. Time-in-Grade: In addition to the above requirements, you must meet the following time-in-grade requirement, if applicable:
For the GS-09 you must have been at the GS-07 level for 52 weeks.
Time After Competitive Appointment: Candidates who are current Federal employees serving on a non-temporary competitive appointment must have served at least three months in that appointment.
