Salary: $112 015 - 172 075 per year
Published at: Sep 29 2023
Employment Type: Full-time
NIST works with industry and science to advance innovation and improve quality of life. We're looking for a Research Chemist to join our team!
This notice is issued under direct-hire authority to recruit new talent to occupations for which NIST has a severe shortage of candidates.
Duties
The successful candidate will conduct experiments to study nm-scale materials for use in next generation devices with a focus on processing, including chemical processing and nanofabrication techniques, and characterization including various spectroscopic methods, and prototype development for applications. Design and conduct methods to manipulate nm-scale materials and devices, such as diamond, with optimized properties for use in emerging technological areas such as power electronics, and multi-functional sensing. Design and perform nanofabrication processes to create electronic devices composed of challenging and non-traditional materials. Perform advanced measurements of structural and chemical characterization, including Raman spectroscopy, photoluminescence microscopy, electron microscopy, magnetic measurements, crystallographic diffraction, and others as needed. Perform measurements of devices properties including electronic transport, low-temperature transport, hall measurements, AC and DC magnetometry, and others as needed.
