The position is in the Foreign Service Institute, Transition Center (FSI/TC) on the Overseas Briefing Center (OBC). The incumbent is responsible for providing support for a variety of training administrative, logistical, and programmatic functions. The incumbent is a key player in TC’s activities which involve close consultations and exchanges with numerous bureaus and executive offices as well as with other U.S. government agencies in the Foreign Affairs community and the private sector.
Duties
Responds to written, e-mail, and telephone inquiries from all Foreign Affairs agencies concerning course content, timing, fees, and registration; ensures FSI access for course registrants and family.
Coordinates course materials as well as presenters/speakers selected for courses and workshops; determines formats and prepares agendas for presenters; and works with staff to distributes course materials.
Reviews pet shipping requirements and distributes applicable information via handouts, web-based content, consultations, and courses, webinars, and briefings (online and in-person).
Maintains organization and controls inventory of classroom materials for all classes and takes on special projects based on the OBC's programs.
Assists guest presenters with anticipated and unanticipated logistical needs throughout the course; coordinates room set-up requests and assists with general administrative assistance as needed.

- Incumbent will be subject to random drug testing.
- Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance.

NOTE: Applicants must meet time-in-grade and time after competitive appointment requirements, by the closing date of this announcement.
Time-In-Grade Requirements: Federal applicants must have served 52 weeks at the next lower grade to satisfy time-in-grade restrictions, per 5CFR 300, Subpart F.
Applicants applying for the GS-09 grade level must have at least 1 full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-08 level in the Federal service which provided you with the particular knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position.
Qualifying specialized experience must demonstrate the following:
Experience in determining formats and preparing agendas for presenters.
Experience in preparing written correspondence for the programs and maintaining the organization's inventory of classroom materials for all classes.
Experience maintaining electronic files of all course materials, manuals, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), and supplemental information, updating as necessary, and providing administrative support to other staff members.
Education Substitution: As a general rule, education is not creditable at this level for most positions covered by this standard; however, graduate education may be credited in those few instances where the graduate education is directly related to the work of the position.
