This position is located at the Fort Belknap Service Unit in Harlem, MT. The purpose of this position is to perform as a Billing & Accounts Receivable Manager for the administration of third party patient billing. The incumbent will report to the Business Office Supervisor or designee.

Duties
Prepare and submit claims to third party payers, intermediaries or responsible parties.
Research and follow up on rejected claims in order to ensure maximum reimbursement to the facility.
Review and audit ICD-10, CPT, ADA and HCFA coding.
Post checks received from the insurance companies to the RPMS accounts receivable package.
Analyze, maintain and direct billing operations for third party programs.
Qualifications
To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer and part time experience. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
GS-04: One (1) year of general experience OR Two (2) years above high school.
GS-05: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level OR Four (4) years above high school.
GS-06: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
GS-07: One (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level.
NOTE: Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for all grade levels and positions for which both education and experience are acceptable.
General ExperienceProgressively responsible clerical, office, or other work that indicates ability to acquire the particular knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of the position to be filled.
Specialized ExperienceExperience that equipped the applicant with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the next lower grade level. Applicants who have the 1 year of appropriate specialized experience, are not required by this standard to have general experience, education above the high school level, or any additional specialized experience to meet the minimum qualification requirements.
Examples of specialized experience at the GS-05 grade level
Review system generated reports daily to identify claims that are ready for billing. Correct any errors for all rejected/suspended claims previously submitted to third party payers, intermediaries and patients according to hospital policy and procedures. Document all activity performed on patient accounts in the patient financial folder such as date billed, and to whom.
Examples of specialized experience at the GS-06 grade level
Timely prepare and submit claims to third party payers, intermediaries and responsible parties according to established hospital policy and procedures. Maintain and control unbilled claims, including assigned section of patients receivables. Submit a daily billing productivity report reflecting the beginning inventory, claims billed and remaining balance.
Examples of specialized experience at the GS-07 grade level
Serve as an assistant to the Business Office Manager in the management and supervision of the RPMS automated and electronic billing/accounts receivable packages. Provide orientation to all new providers and staff by explaining requirements, methods, and procedures used with compliance. Coordinate benefits, third party billing, verification of data, claims processing and accounts receivable.
Time In GradeFederal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
