About the Position: Serves as the Administrative Support Assistant located at Womack Army Medical Center, Department of Medicine Fort Liberty, North Carolina. Performs duties as an administrative assistant for the leadership team in a large, freestanding, multidisciplinary health clinic. Utilizes knowledge of the clinic activities to perform a variety of administrative/clerical support functions.
Duties
Schedule appointments based on knowledge of supervisor's interests and commitments.
Screen items to be handled personally, such as those pertaining to routine administrative matters, and forwards the remainder to various staff members and sections within the facility according to subject matter and suspense control.
Ability to write, using proper grammar, spelling, punctuation, etc., to properly prepare correspondence.
Manage routine matters, and on the basis of knowledge of program activities, procedures, and requirements, directs inquiries to appropriate personnel.
Prepare and control requests for personnel actions, awards, performance appraisals, employee records, etc.
Maintain employee leave projections records and advises supervisor of conflicts.
Prepare and follows up on requisitions for supplies.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes maintaining office files in accordance with agency's regulations and guidelines; utilizing automated computer programs for drafting correspondences and generating reports; corrects errors in grammar, spelling and punctuation on outgoing correspondences. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).

Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
