NEH is an independent grant-making agency of the United States government dedicated to supporting research, education, preservation, and public programs in the humanities. This position is located within the Office of Planning and Budget (OPB), National Endowment for the Humanities (NEH). The risk analyst position supports and reports to the OPB director on risk and interal control releated activies and functions.

Duties

Facilitates the annual completion and maintenance of risk-and internal control-based documentation and work products. Consults and collaborates with offices across the agency to identify risks and internal controls. Provides on-going leadership and support to shape the Enterprise Risk Management (ERM) program. Serves as primary liaison in coordinating with senior external stakeholders and other Federal agencies. Assess and manage risks, and ensure that applicable federal regulations, guidelines, directives, and standards are met within agency policy and procedure. Integrates risk management activities in strategic planning, performance, and internal controls processes across the agency. Conducts research and develops deliverables for integration of the strategic planning objectives and internal controls that affect the risk exposure of NEH programs. Compares program-level risk management practices against federal, public, and private sector best practices to propose and implement improvements as needed. Monitors and evaluates the success of the programs and initiates actions to maintain effectiveness. Designs and plans training for agency staff.

Qualifications

To qualify for this position, your resume must state sufficient experience and/or education, to perform the duties of the specific position for which you are applying. At the GS-14 level: Qualified candidates must possess:1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-13 level or equivalent experience. Specialized experience is experience which is directly related to the line of work of the position to be filled and which has equipped the applicant with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of the position, for example: Proving recommendations to the director and senior leadership on new and/or complex topics; Applying methods for the assessment and improvement of program effectiveness; Demonstrating the application of technical risk management and internal control concepts, principles, and practices.
