Duties

This medical center has an active outpatient treatment program and includes, but not limited to, Audiology & Speech Pathology, Visual Impairment Service Team, Spinal Cord Injury, Rehabilitation Medicine, Medical Services, Surgical Service, Ophthalmology, and Orthopedic Services. PSAS have coordination of the Amputee Clinic and Major Medical Committee. This facility also includes active Community Base Outpatient clinics throughout Wisconsin and specialized clinical referrals from outside VISN 12. Duties: - Incumbent is the first employee that the public encounters at front desk, check patients in, direct calls and visitors. -Skilled in office automation equipment such as fax machines, computers, printers, scanners and copiers to effectively communicate with others. -Will provide exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. -Possesses the ability to prepare timecards correctly and in a timely manner. -Responsible for scheduling appointments and informing the patient of the appropriate time and place of the appointment. -Process incoming mail in a timely manner. -Scan documents for records management Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, normal business hours Compressed/Flexible: Not Available Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications

To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements 30 days from the closing date of this announcement, 10/05/2023. You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below: GS-5 SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Do you possess at least (1) full year of specialized experience that equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities (KSA's) to perform successfully the duties of the Prosthetic Clerk, and that is typically in or related to the position to be filled? To be credible, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-4 level in the Federal service to qualify at the Grade 5. Examples of specialized experience include (but are not limited to): Knowledge of timekeeping rules and regulations; Knowledge of Freedom of Information Act, Privacy Act and HIPAA in order to appropriately process release of information requests; Skills in the use of office automation equipment, such as fax machine, computers , printers, scanners and copiers are necessary to effectively communicate with others and to complete in final form all required paperwork using correct grammar, spelling, and punctuation; Relationships with management, co-workers, patients, and the general public are consistently courteous, respectful, and cooperative in nature. --OR-- Education - 4 years above high school. Four years of successfully completed education above the high school level in any field for which high school graduation or the equivalent is the normal prerequisite is creditable for this position. This education must have been obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university. One year of full time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED. --OR-- Combining Experience and Education - Equivalent combinations of experience and education are qualifying for this position. TRANSCRIPTS REQUIRED. You will be rated on the following Competencies for this position: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)FlexibilityInformation AssuranceIntegrity/Honesty Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religions; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Note: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Physical Requirements: The work is primarily sedentary at a desk and work station area. However, there will be some walking, standing, bending, pushing and carrying of light items like papers, reports, and files. May stand to great visitors and escort people to meeting areas. No special physical demands are required.
