This position is located in the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS), Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), Center for Clinical Standards and Quality, Information System Group, Division of Quality Systems Governance, Engineering, and Development.
As a Supervisory IT Specialist (Security), GS-2210-14, you will serve as the Deputy Director, determining how CCSQ can most effectively achieve its current and future objectives while building new capabilities into HCQIS systems.
Duties
Serve as a technical expert and leads technical projects for specific, comprehensive aspects of the Health Care Quality Information System
(HCQIS) related to enterprise architecture, IT security and security architecture, and database design.
Identify operational and process improvements for all components of the computing environment and ensures the health and operational viability of all HCQIS systems to further the Agency's mission.
Oversee the development and implementation of Agency-wide security technologies, including public key infrastructure, intrusion detection, authentication, and encryption, for integration into HCQIS' IT security architecture.
Serve as the technical authority and provides oversight for the architectural design of the HealthCare Quality Information System (HCQIS) Data Center.
Lead and implements a strategic vision for HCQIS through personnel improvements and system modifications.

IT related experience, demonstrated by paid or unpaid experience obtained in either the private or public sector, and/or completion of specific, intensive training that demonstrates possession of each of the following four competencies:

(4) Problem-Solving - Identifies problems; determines accuracy and relevance of information; uses sound judgment to generate and evaluate alternatives, and to make recommendations.

In order to qualify for the GS-14, you must meet the following: You must demonstrate in your resume at least one year (52 weeks) of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to the GS-13 grade level in the Federal government, obtained in either the private or public sector, to include:(1) Working across multiple IT disciplines (including but not limited to development, enterprise architecture, IT Security and security architecture, database design or Project Management); and (2) Directing or leading staff or contractors in information technology operations, enterprise architecture, or security project activities.
Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
