About the Position: The position is located at Womack Army Medical Center, Patient Admin Division. Provides administrative support and assistance to active duty military personnel, their beneficiaries, retirees and their dependents in receiving health care services.

Duties
Receive and input medical record requests into a medical record tracking system daily for processing with accuracy and completeness.
Review and scan documentation into patient charts to ensure completeness of records within established DoD guidelines.
Utilize Medical Records Tracking Module (MRT) to create medical records for new patients and to create bar- code labels for each record to be scanned into the MRT for record tracking.
Apply clinic guidelines concerning release of patient records to patients.
Answer phone calls from staff, patients and/or public and greets visitors.
Effectively communicate with managements and customers.
Maintain custody of service treatment records, inpatient, ambulatory procedure visits, and outpatient medical records according to regulatory guidelines and local policies.
Maintain medical records ensuring necessary forms and documents are present, accurate, and complete in accordance with various current regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Immunization screening may be required. Hepatitis B immunization may be required for all positions with direct patient contact. Applicants may be required to show proof of other immunizations depending on the type of position.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a background investigation to determine your suitability for Federal employment.
- This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is subject to annual vaccination.
- A Personnel Security Investigation is required.

In order to qualify, you must meet the specialized experience and education requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which may include experience performing administrative functions relative to health care information; experience with using a medical record tracking tools or programs.
This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04).
OR
Education: Four years of education above the high school level obtained in an accredited business, secretarial or technical school, junior college, college or university.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of education beyond two years (total semester hours minus 60) by 60. Add the two percentages.
