The primary purpose of this position is to serve as the primary financial and computer support assistant performing a variety of computer, financial, and office automation duties.

Duties

Performs systems, local area network (LAN) and workgroup administration duties. Serves as the AFOSI Detachment's Financial Resource Advisor. Performs miscellaneous office automation and information management duties. Serves as the detachment liaison for personnel, equipment/supply control, and investigative support matters.

  • Incumbent must be willing to travel on military or commercial aircraft for temporary duty or training assignments.
  • Emotional stability, tact, and maturity are necessary to cope with unusual and stressful situations.
  • Employee must work under pressure.
  • May be required to undergo a polygraph examination.
  • AFOSI funds management is a particularly sensitive program since funds are closely monitored and used for authorized expenses in support of the AFOSI investigative mission.
  • The legal requirements for managing Advance of Funds (confidential funds) are stringent and subject to severe legal sanction if not handled properly.
  • ***The incumbent must have the ability to type a minimum of 40 WPM.
  • This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a qualifying crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position.

Qualifications

Other conditions of employment: Information Assurance Certification is a condition of employment. This position includes information assurance (IA) work as a paramount duty requirement. Per DoD 8570.01-M, the incumbent of this position must achieve the appropriate IA certification within six months of assignment of these duties. A waiver of this six month requirement may be granted per DoD 8570.01-M, C3.2.4.2 or C3.2.4.3. Failure to receive the proper IA certification may result in removal from this position. ***This is a Type 7 - Cat II/Type 1 designated drug testable position IAW AFMAN 44-198, Air Force Civilian Drug Demand Reduction Program based on access to CUI. A pre-employment drug test is required and incumbent will be subject to random drug testing. ******************************************************************************************************************************************************************* Experience requirements are described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards for General Schedule Positions, Clerical and Adminstrative Support. Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Applicants must have at least one year (52 weeks) of specialized experience at the next lower grade GS-06, or equivalent in other pay systems. Examples of specialized experience includes:knowledge and ability in diagnosing and resolving problems with telecommunications and Local Area Network systems sufficient to carry out assignments which may not be typical in nature and require adaptation of standard procedures and established practices, skill in troubleshooting and resolving problems with information systems equipment such as minicomputers, scanners, laser printers, color printers, modems, terminals, and system file servers, and knowledge of procedures and regulations covering the review, validation and submission of a wide range of funds management and financial transactions. NOTE: Due to the use of 120-day rosters, this period of experience may be completed within 120 days of the closing date of this announcement. FEDERAL TIME-IN-GRADE (TIG) REQUIREMENT FOR GENERAL SCHEDULE (GS) POSITIONS: Merit promotion applicants must meet applicable time-in-­grade requirements to be considered eligible. One year at the GS-06 level is required to meet the time-in-grade requirements for the GS-07 level. TIG applies if you are in a current GS position or held a GS position within the previous 52 weeks. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES (KSAs): Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas: Knowledge of personal computer capabilities and limitations, peripheral equipment, software configuration, and DOD and Air Force automated data processing and networking standards, policies, and techniques to provide a substantial range of technical support and assistance to users of personal computers in the unit. Knowledge of an extensive body of rules, procedures, policies, and processes covering the review, validation, and submission of a wide range of funds management and financial transactions under appropriated funds and reimbursable accounts to process and extract budgetary data from a variety of forms, documents, and reports. Knowledge of word processing automation software functions to support office operations and ability to instruct and train users to produce a variety of textual documents such as letters, reports, memos, and form letters. A qualified typist required. Skill in performing arithmetic computations and ability to prepare and maintain a variety of financial records. Ability to plan, organize work, and meet deadlines. Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing. PART-TIME OR UNPAID EXPERIENCE: Credit will be given for appropriate unpaid and or part-time work. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. VOLUNTEER WORK EXPERIENCE: Refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service Programs (i.e., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student and social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge and skills that can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
