This position is located in the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Omaha Field Division, Diversion Group, Omaha, Nebraska.
This position(s) primary purpose is to serve as a Registration Program Specialist which is the key resource for all registration applicants authorized to handle drugs in accordance with the Controlled Substance Act (CSA). The incumbent will resolve minor discrepancies and approve a wide range of registration applications in accordance with DEA licensing criteria.

As a Registration Program Specialist your typical work assignments may include:
Initiating contacts with registrant applicants who are requesting authorization to prescribe and dispense controlled substances in accordance with the Controlled Substances Act (CSA).
Preparing reports, correspondence, and other written materials in accordance with established regulations and guidelines.
Participating in managing the license registration process.
Reviewing all registration transactions to verify the internal control process has been followed, such as examining all registration transactions and rejecting those not completed in compliance with agency standards and other applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
Entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system and ensuring data entry is complete and accurate.
Requirements

Qualifications
Applicants must meet the Specialized Experience requirements as noted below. Qualification claims will be subject to verification.
You must demonstrate in your resume at least one (1) year of qualifying specialized experience equivalent to GS-0301-04/05/07/09. Specialized experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. One year of specialized experience for this position includes:
GS-05: Must have three (3) years of general experience, one year of which was equivalent to at least GS-04 grade level which includes performing the following duties: 1) Reviewing documentation for omissions and inconsistencies; and 2) Searching databases to collect information; and 3) Assisting with analyzing information; and 4) Assisting with generating reports. -OR-
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the GS-05 level may be met by completion of a 4-year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. -OR-
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirement. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
GS-07: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level which includes performing the following duties: 1) Reviewing documentation for omissions and inconsistencies; 2) Searching databases to collect information; 3) Assisting with analyzing information; and 4) Generating reports. -OR-
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirements for the GS-07 level may be met by completion of one (1) full academic year of graduate level education. -OR-
SUPERIOR ACADEMIC ACHIEVEMENT: Education that meets at least one of the following requirements for superior academic achievement: 1) class standing in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision based on completed courses; 2) grade point average of 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 as recorded on the official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; 3) grade point average of 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; OR 4) election to membership in a national scholastic honor society listed by the Association of College Honor Societies. -OR-
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirement. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
GS-09: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 grade level which includes the following duties: 1) Preparing reports and correspondence; 2) Interpreting and advising on regulations, agency rules or standards; 3) Analyzing information; and 4) Identifying and resolving issues or problems. -OR-
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the GS-09 level may be met by a Master's or equivalent graduate degree or two (2) full academic years of graduate level education leading to such a degree or a LL.B or J.D. degree, if related. -OR-
COMBINATION OF EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE: Equivalent combinations of successfully completed education and experience may be used to meet the experience requirements. (To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education beyond one year by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify.
GS-11: Must have one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-09 grade level which includes the following duties: 1) Analyzing the effectiveness of a diversion registration program; 2) Interpreting and applying federal and state diversion and registration law, regulations and guidelines; 3) Using investigative databases to retrieve data to be evaluated; 4) Identifying potential violations and/or discrepancies; and 5) Determining appropriate action, and preparing reports and/or other written material to document research findings. -OR-
SUBSTITUTION OF EDUCATION FOR EXPERIENCE: The experience requirement for the GS-11 level may be met by completion of all requirements for a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree, or three (3) full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree, or completion of all requirements for a LL.M, if related. -OR-
