Duties

If selected for this position, you will join a well-respected team in the Administrative Division that is responsible for maintaining a comprehensive financial management program for the U.S. Attorney's Office, District of Maryland. Typical work assignments will include: Planning, organizing, directing, and supervising the personnel and activities of the Budget Office Supervising a staff of up to four employees, which includes Budget Analysts and Budget Technicians Planning work to be accomplished by subordinates, setting goals and priorities, and preparing schedules for completion of work Planning, developing and administering a comprehensive District-level financial management system Formulating, justifying, and executing the budget for the District of Maryland Adjusting the short and long-range budget plans throughout the fiscal year to align with the evolving needs of the office Advising on the proper and effective use of financial resources in accordance with applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures.

Requirements

  • You must be a U.S. Citizen or National.
  • Initial appointment is conditioned upon a satisfactory pre-employment adjudication. This includes fingerprint, credit and tax checks, and drug testing. Continued employment is subject to a favorable adjudication of a background investigation.
  • You must be registered for Selective Service, if applicable.
  • If selected, you may be required to complete a one year probationary period.
  • Time-in-Grade: Federal employees must meet time-in-grade requirements within 30 days after the closing date of this announcement.

Qualifications

GS-13: To be eligible at the GS-13 level, you must meet at least One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized Experience One full year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 level. Specialized Experience includes experience overseeing aspects of planning, formulating, and executing a federal budget; developing, recommending, and implementing budgetary and financial policies and procedures; providing authoritative budgetary advice and interpretations of law and policy; overseeing budget work with short and rapidly changing program and financial/budgetary deadlines and objectives; and experience communicating orally and in writing to present budget and financial information to senior managers and leaders. Interagency Career Transition Assistance Plan (ICTAP)- The ICTAP provides eligible displaced Federal competitive service employees with selection priority over other candidates for competitive service vacancies. If your agency has notified you in writing that you are a displaced employee eligible for ICTAP consideration, you may receive selection priority if: 1) this vacancy is within your ICTAP eligibility; 2) you apply under the instructions in the announcement; and 3) you are found well-qualified for this vacancy.
