This position is located in the Department of Homeland Security, United States Coast Guard, LANTAREA, CGD Eight (D8), Command Cadre (D8), in New Orleans, LA.  

Duties

This position is located in the Eighth Coast Guard District and serves functionally and organizationally as the District Response Advisory Team Supervisor.  The incumbent is responsible for the work produced by the staff and manages the District's pollution preparedness program and provides senior subject matter expertise and technical support for the Coast Guard's Marine Environmental Response Program, including Preparedness for Response Exercise Program (PREP) exercises and review and approval of costal Area Contingency Plans.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizenship is required.
• Males born after 12/31/1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
• Secret clearance is required.
• One-year supervisory probationary period is required.
• Must be fluent in English language. (speaking, reading, and writing).

Qualifications

Applicants must have at least one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-12 level in the federal service.  Specialized experience is experience that has equipped you with the particular ability, skill, and knowledge to successfully perform the duties of this position and is typically in or related to this line of work.  Examples of specialized experience include: Developing, implementing, and assessing preparedness, planning, emergency and incident management practices; Leading and/or supervising a team of professionals while managing multiple simultaneous projects; Leading an emergency management program; Developing position papers, briefing and meeting preparation materials for decision making at the strategic level to support organizational efficiency; Conducting special studies and performance analyses in support of decision making at the operational and tactical levels. National Service Experience (i.e., volunteer experience): Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.
