The Administrative Support Assistant (OA) provides administrative support to the Mental Health & Behavioral Health Sciences Services at the San Juan VA through a variety of administrative and program management activities. Assignments are related to data management, automated data processing, tasks related to office automation such as word processing, databases, and spreadsheets. Work is completed independently and in accordance with accepted practices, resolving most conflicts that arise.
Duties
Major duties include but are not limited too:
Tracking, trending, and harvesting data needed for information management, education, and reporting.
Analyzing program performance data to identify deficiencies and impact on services.
Preparing and submitting requests for program clinical needs thru the proper mechanism.
Assisting in the maintenance of staff credentialing records.
Maintaining and ensuring complete confidentiality of office records.
Conducting investigational as needed or as directed, to clarify data.
Work Schedule: Monday - Friday, 7:30 am - 4:00 pm
Telework: VA supports the use of telework as a way to help attract and retain talented individuals in public service, increase worker productivity, and better prepare the agency to operate during emergencies. Qualifications
To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 10/03/2023.

You may qualify based on your experience and/or education as described below:
Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: Receiving and routing correspondence & telephone calls. Composing correspondence to internal and external customers. Operating a personal computer to produce work accurately and efficiently. Timekeeping, attendance, and leave administration. Maintaining, organizing and documenting filing. Assisting with the maintenance of service providers profile binders. Developing and continuously updating database systems for extracting accurate data for recurring and nonrecurring reports, and tracking outcome analysis on a variety of administrative, clinical, and outcome data.

Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level you must have 4 years above high school.

Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify at this level. You must have the appropriate percentage combination of specialized experience and post-high school education beyond the second year (beyond 60 semester hours). One full academic year of study (30 semester hours) beyond the second year is equivalent to 6 months of specialized experience.
