This position is located with the Bureau of Indian Affairs, Great Plains Region, Great Plains Regional Office, Deputy Regional Director - Trust Services, Real Estate Services, in Aberdeen, South Dakota.

Duties
Assist with planning, developing, and implementing the trust real estate services program for processing of applications for patents, removal of restrictions, disposals, acquisitions, rights-of-way, surface, and subsurface leasing and permitting.
Provides technical assistance in all areas of real estate management and decision-making activities.
Performs audits of real estate management practices, real estate transactions, and legal instruments preparation to assure conformance with legal, statutory, regulatory, and policy requirements.
Serves as the Region's advisor in the field of Indian trust real estate management.
Coordinates recordation activities with Land Title and Records Office, agencies, and tribes; and assists in corrective actions to cure title defects.
Implements operational policies, techniques, and procedures to assure the correlation of activities with other Bureau programs to accomplish management of objectives and economic development.
Application of sound technical judgment, procedural adequacy, and the completeness of real estate transactions.
Assist in the supervision of the work of regional realty staff.

Qualifications
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS: (OPM Operating Manual, Qualification Standards for Administrative and Management Positions and/or BIA Excepted Standards, GS-1170).
GS-13: 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-12 grade level in the federal service. Examples of specialized experience includes, but is not limited to, work which involved providing oversight over realty functions for a unit planning work to be accomplished; meeting deadlines; and reviewing work to verify completeness, correctness, consistency, compliance, or authenticity. Provided technical assistance in the acquisition of real property; management of real property in the administration of federally owned or Indian-owned leased space or property; prepared for disposal, or disposed of real property which requires a knowledge of real estate laws, principles, practices, and markets; and provided technical assistance to optimize the use of trust real property resources and assure legal and procedural compliance.
