About the Position: This position is with the U.S. Army Engineer Research and Development Center (ERDC), Geospatial Research Laboratory (GRL), located in Alexandria, VA.
Duties
Serve as an expert strategic advisor and analyst for scientific and strategic communications on a wide range of subjects and issues related to organizational practices.
Orchestrate special projects for the lab related to strategic initiatives, apply experimental theories and new developments to create new and unique programs, and make recommendations for changes as required.
Apply professional judgment and expert knowledge to a range of multi-million-dollar lab programs to recommend a holistic, annual strategic communication plan, and guidance for implementation.
Assess the effectiveness and resolves critical problems related to laboratory communications practices using innovative solutions through available organizational communication/media systems.
Prepare, research, analyze and edit graphics, presentations, production of communication and marketing products to include video production, printed materials, digital media, social media and messaging with specialized electronic media.
Responsible for program content on the lab website and other products current, relevant, and in a format for our customer, the public and others.
Ability to communicate effectively with senior leaders both orally and in writing.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Appointment to this position is subject to a one year probationary period unless the appointee has previously met the requirements as described in 5 CFR Part 315.
- This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Secret security clearance or access
for the duration of employment.
- This position requires pre-employment financial disclosure and annually thereafter in accordance with DoD Directive 5500-7-R.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes managing production of audio, video, print and web marketing products in accordance with project specifications; developing storyboards and making sound decisions toward optimal marketing and communication venues. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service DJ-03 (GS-12).
Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted.
