This position is located in the Veteran Transportation Service (VTS) of the VA Medical Center in Amarillo, TX.

Duties

***THIS IS NOT A VIRTUAL POSITION, YOU MUST LIVE WITHIN OR BE WILLING TO RELOCATE WITHIN A COMMUTABLE DISTANCE OF THE DUTY LOCATION*** Scheduling appointments; Collecting, compiling, and tracking data and statistical information in support of VTS; Performing basic data analysis and generating a variety of reports; Evaluating documents, sampling plans, permit applications, and other data collection forms; Aggregating incoming data from a variety of sources; Reviewing documents, reports, and/or applications for omissions and inconsistencies; Ensuring data entry is complete and accurate; Entering pertinent information into an automated tracking system and verifying for completeness and accuracy; Maintaining automated system of program-specific data to track items such as service project milestones, progress reports, program trends, performance measures, compliance strategies, etc.; Interacting with various other public transportation services to coordinate patient travel; Planning for, organizing, administering, and directing how the program work will be accomplished for the VTS; Planning and directing programs that provide total support services functions that require the application of highly specialized knowledge and skills; Planning responsibilities that pertain to total functions and require consideration of complete support services, e.g., systems management, operations, workload forecasting, review, and reporting of data/statistical results of program/project studies, vehicle maintenance and repair, etc.; Reviewing workload to validate accurate reporting; Coordinating the day-to-day operation of VTS flow, processes, and functions; Providing technical guidance necessary to achieve the optimum use of VTS resources; Providing advisory services to the VTS Mobility Manager regarding the requirements and implications of the services provided; Providing advice to operating managers and supervisors on how provided services can assist in accomplishing their missions and programs; Performing related duties as required. Work Schedule: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:30pm. Recruitment & Relocation Incentives: Not authorized. Financial Disclosure Report: Not required.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS GS-06: One year of specialized experience that equipped you with the knowledge, skills, and abilities to successfully perform the duties of this position, and that is typically in or related to the position. To be creditable, specialized experience must have been equivalent to at least the GS-05 grade level in Federal service. Specialized experience includes: coordinating transportation for customers/patients; collecting payment for transportation; reading maps to calculate mileage; and researching transportation options and routes to assist customers. This experience must be detailed in your resume to receive credit. You will be rated on the following Competencies as part of the assessment questionnaire for this position: Customer Service (Clerical/Technical)Planning and EvaluatingSelf ManagementTechnical Competence IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Part-time experience will be credited on the basis of time actually spent in appropriate activities. Applicants wishing to receive credit for such experience must indicate clearly the nature of their duties and responsibilities in each position and the number of hours a week spent in such employment. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Physical Requirements: The Transportation Assistant will be exposed to stressful working situations that will require a mature attitude and collective reasoning to overcome. The employee is subject to a great deal of stress because of the high volume of work, the need for accuracy, frequency of interruptions, and ever-changing demands due to program changes. Duties will be predominantly performed in the Command/Call Center Offices with intermittent trips to various locations throughout the Medical Center both in and near patient care areas where there is a risk of exposure to disease.
