The Air University (AU) invites applications from qualified individuals for the position of Chief, Faculty Relations and Research. The incumbent is responsible for supporting military and civilian faculty endeavors which include the implementation of faculty development programs, assisting with the onboarding and hiring process, coordinating research protocols, collecting data, and implementing innovative and emerging practices in the areas of diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Duties
Liaising, Planning and Synchronizing Faculty Relations. Serves in the Office of the Academic Affairs and provides counsel and advice to the Chief Academic Officer (CAO) and Chief Academic Affairs (CAA) on faculty-related matters as needed. Serves as a liaison between and among the AU faculty, faculty senate, and teaching and learning center in relations to faculty matters and other tasks. Serves as a resource, advocate, and spokesperson for faculty, students, and staff. Assists in preparing and maintaining faculty documents in relations with appointments, reappointments and promotions, recruitment, and submission of accurate dossiers for final review. Assists in the appointment and reappointment credentialing for permanent faculty, department chairs, adjuncts, and visiting faculty. Maintains faculty-related handbook and guidelines. Serves as a liaison between and among the CAO, CAA, AU faculty, Faculty Senate, and the AU Teaching and Learning Center in relation to faculty matters. Prepares reports, written correspondence, and briefings, as required. Develops and delivers presentations to senior leaders, faculty, and staff. Works collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders.
Research Enhancement and Process Execution. Develops and submits annual reports as well as provides pertinent data for annual faculty report, research report, and factbook. Serves on the various council, committees, and working groups as assigned. Recommends and supports strategic initiatives and ensures adherence to the CAO/Academic Affairs and AU-wide processes and policies. Aligns faculty resources as necessary to elevate and sustain academic excellence across schools and centers. Participates in a continuous process to ensure college maintains all civilian and military accreditation standards.
Teaching and Faculty Development.Teaches graduate or undergraduate-level courses across the breadth of the university's curriculum, evaluates student performance, and advises student research. Lectures in areas of academic specialty. Plays a vital in planning and delivering high-quality educational programs to maximize their impact. Implements innovative teaching strategies to foster active learning and critical thinking.

- This job is being filled by an alternative hiring process and is not in the competitive civil service. This is an Administratively Determined position in the excepted service.
Qualifications
Knowledge of educational research, statistics, and analytics, and follow research methodology and protocol.
Skill in applying analytical and evaluative techniques to the identification, consideration, and resolution of issues or problems concerning efficiency and effectiveness in academic programs.
The ability to design and interpret research projects.
The ability to execute strategy management and accreditation projects with senior military and civil service individuals.
Experience in interdisciplinary teaching, service learning, learning technologies, course development, and adult learning methodologies including collaborative learning, learning communities and distance learning.
Knowledge of institutional and specialized accreditation compliance and best practices.
The ability to interpret higher level policy and integrate requirements.
The ability to deal with sensitive issues in a professional manner.
The ability to communicate and interact with general officers, senior executive civilians, college presidents, accreditation representatives, and corporate CEOs.
It is highly desired that Applicants possess:
Knowledge of military organizations, operations and culture.
Knowledge of collegiate level/higher education student information systems.
