This position is located at the Samuel S. Stratton VA Medical Center in Albany, NY. This position performs support functions for the Medical Center Director's Office and other Leadership Staff.
Duties

Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Maintains the tracking, storage, logging, and destruction of documents related to the running of the Medical Center;
Develops meeting agendas and records the meeting minutes;
Prepares budget reports, mapping of overtime, and tracking of OT and intermittent contracts;
Manages assigned actions, monitors status, prioritizes activities, and provides comprehensive status updates;
Arranges for all issues related to travel, scheduling of visits, and hotel reservations;
Processes incoming and outgoing materials such as correspondence, reports, memoranda, etc.;
Edits letters, composes letters and reports, and reviews correspondence for accuracy and completeness;
Receives Director's telephone calls and visitors and screens them to determine the nature of business;
Manages and maintains the Facility's Policies, SOP's (Standard Operating Procedures) and Memorandums;
Maintains the Chief of Staff and the Associate Director of Patient Care Services' calendars;
Obtains and monitors the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office;
Performs other duties as assigned
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday; 8:00am-4:30pm

Qualifications
To qualify at the GS-9 grade level, you must also meet at least ONE of the following Minimum Qualification requirements:
Specialized Experience: You must have one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level (GS-7) in Federal service that has equipped you with the particular knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform successfully the duties of the position, and that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled. Specialized experience is providing executive administrative support; maintaining schedules and calendars; screening multiple phone calls; recording meeting minutes; maintaining tracking systems for action items and correspondence, and monitoring the use of services, supplies, or equipment for the office.. Note: Experience must be fully documented on your resume and must include job title, duties, month and year start/end dates AND hour worked per week. ~OR~
Education: Applicants may substitute education for the required experience. To qualify based on education for this grade level, you must possess a master's or equivalent degree OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree. Such education must demonstrate the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position. NOTE: Transcripts must be submitted with your application materials. Combination: Applicants may also combine education and experience to qualify. You must have a combination of specialized experience and education beyond 1 year of graduate level education. IMPORTANT: A full year of work is considered to be 35-40 hours of work per week. All experience listed on your resume must include the month and year start/end dates. Physical Requirements: Factor 8-1 Physical Demands The work is sedentary. Typically, the employee may sit comfortably to do the work. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, and carrying of light items like papers or books. No special physical demands are required to perform the work.
