About the Position: This position is located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center, Director for Surgery, Department of Orthopedics, Office of the Chief in Bethesda, MD. This is a Direct Hire Solicitation

Duties

Resolve scheduling and appointment problems that arise. Arrange and schedule medical appoints and determine patient eligibility for services. Maintain various clerical, record keeping, and miscellaneous duties required for timely treatment and care of patients. Review incoming and outgoing correspondence for accuracy according to established regulations. Prepare various reports for the department via data entry.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• This position requires the incumbent be able to obtain and maintain a determination of eligibility for a Tier 1 security investigation or access for the duration of employment. A background investigation and credit check are required.
• This position has a mandatory seasonal influenza vaccination requirement and is therefore subject to annual seasonal influenza vaccinations.
• This position requires the incumbent to have tuberculosis testing.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes receiving patients and visitors in a Medical Treatment Facility (MTF) or clinic setting; answering phones; scheduling appointments; maintaining patient records; and inputting medical data into automated healthcare systems (i.e. Genesis). This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Proficiency Required:This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5 minute sample with three or fewer errors.
