You will serve as a ENGINEERING TECHNICIAN (PROJECT MANAGER) in the Capital Improvements Division of NAVFAC SOUTHWEST.

Duties

You will monitor construction to assure compliance with contracts provisions and standards. You will develop project planning timetables or schedules to ensure project stays within budget and meets project goals. You will present new instructional designs or methods to show adaptation of standard engineering practices and techniques. You will evaluate documented engineering procedures to assess the potential impact on other projects.

  • You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver's license.
  • You will be required to successfully complete a pre-appointment physical examination.
  • You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
  • This position may require travel from normal duty station to CONUS and OCONUS and may include remote or isolated sites. You must be able to travel on military and commercial aircraft for extended periods of time.
  • You will be required to complete ethics orientation within three months of appointment and submit a Confidential Financial Disclosure Report, OGE-450, within 30 days of appointment.
  • You will be required to complete training, obtain, and maintain a government credit card for travel and travel-related purchases.
  • You must be able to successfully complete the following training courses within prescribed timeframe: Completion of training require by the CI or PW Community Management Plan, Mandatory Training and the employee’s Individual Development (IDP).
  • You will be required to wear personal protective equipment such as helmets, gloves, coveralls, glasses, goggles, respirators and safety shoes continuously for the duration of the work shift.

Qualifications

Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of Specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-09 grade level or pay band in the Federal service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1. Evaluating the information received from the field, determining the urgency and making an effective decision independently; 2. Interpreting and applying technical guidelines appropriate to each individual circumstance to make decisions; 3. Analyzing processes used in facility maintenance activities to make recommendation for changes; 4. Using computers and application software to prepare estimates, drawings/sketches, narrative reports and schedules; 5.
