Duties
You will perform structural firefighting duties for a variety of facilities.
You will perform airfield firefighting by involving air traffic or support operations where hazardous conditions are.
You will operate a variety of firefighting equipment.
You will combat fire or rescue personnel on board ships where conditions create very difficult and dangerous situations.
Requirements
- Must be a US Citizen.
- Must be determined suitable for federal employment.

- You will be required to obtain and maintain a current valid United States driver’s license.
- You will be required to obtain and maintain an interim and/or final security clearance prior to entrance on duty. Failure to obtain and maintain the required level of clearance may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or removal.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (including marijuana) is required. A tentative offer of employment will be rescinded if you fail to report to the drug test appointment or fail the test. You will be subject to random testing.

- Incumbent is required to work a 72-hour week on a 48-hour on/48-hour off basis that includes weekends and holidays. May be subject to recall.
- Incumbent is required to use all safety equipment and clothing provided by management.
Qualifications

GS-05
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-04 grade level or pay band in the Federal
service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Detecting, reducing, or eliminating potential fire hazards; 4) Operating fire communications equipment; 5) Controlling hazardous materials incidents.
OR
Have successfully completed a 4-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field of study.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
***The GS-05 position requires the incumbent to possess the following certifications: Firefighter I and Firefighter II. These certifications must have been awarded by DoD, IFSAC or Pro-Board to meet the requirement. If you do not possess all of the above certifications you will be rated ineligible. Copies of Certifications MUST be submitted with your application.***
GS-04
Your resume must demonstrate at least one year of specialized experience at or equivalent to the GS-03 grade level or pay band in the Federal
service or equivalent experience in the private or public sector. Specialized experience must demonstrate the following: 1) Controlling or extinguishing fires as a member of an organized military, industrial volunteer, governmental fire department brigade; 2) Performing rescue operations; 3) Operating fire communications equipment.
OR
Have successfully completed a 2-year course of study in an accredited college or university in Fire Training, Fire Science, or another related field
of study leading to a Bachelor's degree.
OR
Have a combination of experience and education as described above that equates to one year of experience.
***The GS-04 position requires the incumbent to be able to obtain the Firefighter I and Firefighter II certification within 12 months of employment.***
