About the Position: The incumbent Works directly for the Directorate of Emergency Services Supervisory Physical Security Specialist or as a member of a team that plans and conducts on-site physical security surveys, inspections and/or Antiterrorism assessments for the Fort Huachuca Community. Fort Huachuca, Cochise County's largest employee, is a busting hub for three of the fastest-growing missions in Department of Defense: military intelligence, cyber-security and unmanned aircraft systems.

Duties

Conducts comprehensive physical security surveys, inspections, and evaluations to advise commander's on controlling and safe guarding information, materials, and assets. Analyzes and evaluates physical security systems and procedures in administrative,technical, scholastic, and scientific organizations and facilities which have or need protective systems. Conducts entrance and exit conferences with commanders and top officials to discuss basis and extent of surveys, inspections, findings, deficiencies, corrective measures, and other recommendations and observations. Promotes security and antiterrorism programs to manager's and commanders. Conducts physical security inspections and antiterrorism assessments of construction proposals.

Requirements

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance.
  • Work may require periodic recertification of credentials.
  • Must be able to obtain a valid driver's license.
  • Nighttime and/or weekend duty hours may be required.
  • Temporary Duty Travel (TDY) may be required up to 5%.
  • This position requires the incumbent obtain the following core SPeD Certification: Security Fundamentals Professional Certification (SFPC) within their first two years of employment.

Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes (1) physical security plans and/or access control systems (2) conducting physical security inspections to detect deficiencies and violations of directives and/or policies. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09). OR Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree or LL.M, in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position, such as: Security Management or Security Intelligence. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages. You will be evaluated on the basis of your level of competency in the following areas: Oral CommunicationPhysical SecuritySecurity Program ManagementVulnerabilities Assessment and Management Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
