About the Position: Serves as a Branch Secretary within Engineering Division for the New Orleans District of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Duties
Works with the Division leads in initiating personnel actions, training requests/actions, incentive awards, providing advisory service for benefits, pay issues, and leave.
Prepare, provide editorial assistance, review, and distribute Branch correspondence and reports.
Serves as the Corps of Engineers Financial Management System point of contact for the Branch.
Assures control of an inventory of non-expendable property, such as office equipment, furniture, reproduction equipment, and automated data processing (ADP) equipment in excess of several million dollars.
Prepares timesheets and labor reports using the (Corps of Engineers Time, Attendance, and Labor (CETAL)) system in CEFMS ensuring accurate funding work items to be used in charging time and labor to the appropriate project.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Qualified typist is required at least 40 words per minute (WPM).
- May be required to serve a one-year probationary period.

In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: 1) process purchase requests and orders within an automated system; AND 2) assisting personnel with credit card purchases in a financial management system; AND 3) controlling inventory of property, such as office equipment, furniture, reproduction equipment, and automated data processing equipment system. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05).
Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05).
