About the Position: This position will serve as a Human Resources Assistant (Recruitment & Placement) for CHRA (Civilian Human Resources Agency) -USACE Human Resources Directorate.

Duties

Assist with matters related to human resources. Conduct research to provide responses to inquiries. Assist in recruitment activities by coordinating physical examinations, verifying veterans' preference, making job offers, coordinator EOD/release dates, and/or processing pre-appointment security checks. Process incoming requests for personnel actions for current and/or new employees. Utilize various computer programs such as Microsoft word, Outlook, and Excel. Provides recruitment and placement support services to Human Resources Specialists.

  • Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
  • One year Trial/Probationary period may be required.

Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. GS-05 Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-04 grade level in the Federal service which includes: Providing administrative support following agency processes and procedures; Performing a wide variety of administrative support tasks using automated systems and Providing assistance in preparing a variety of correspondence, reports and/or briefings. This definition of general experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-04). OR Education: Four year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree. OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 36. Then divide your total number of completed undergraduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 120. Add the two percentages. Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-04). GS-06 Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes: Reviewing, collecting and responding to information for personnel actions and/or inquiries; Inputting and/or extracting data into automated HR systems; and Utilizing a wide range of office automation software such as Microsoft Word, and Excel to produce documents, reports, and spreadsheets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-05). OR Education: A half year (i.e., 9 semester hours) of graduate level education in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position in a related field(s) of study. (Copy of transcripts must be submitted.) OR Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) by 9. Add the two percentages. (Copy of transcripts must be submitted.) Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-05). GS-07 Specialized Experience: I have one year of specialized experience in the Federal service which includes: Utilizing HR systems to initiate employee personnel actions such as DCPDS, and/or USA Staffing; Researching HR regulations, policies, personnel processing guidance and/or OPM qualifications; Coordinating pre-employment and onboarding requirements for new employees; AND, Utilizing a wide range of office automation software to produce documents, reports, and spreadsheets. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-06).
