This position serves as the Administrative Officer for the VISN 2, Geriatric Research Education and Clinical Center (GRECC), Veterans Health Administration, in Bronx, New York.
Duties

Major duties and responsibilities include (but are not limited to):
Manages all requests for action in the GRECC program such as needed research, budgetary information related to education grants, clinical information, report completion, data pulls, controlled correspondence, and local, VISN, or national inquiries.
Analyzes data and prepares reports relevant to the GRECC.
Forecasts and estimates program requirements; and writes reports, justifications, and narrative data for reports.
Maintains historical and projected workload data for tracking and planning purposes.
Assumes overall responsibility for audits and purchases for assigned fund control points.
Prepares budget estimates to make resource allocation recommendations and decisions, analyzes programmatic needs, and develops plans to ensure optimal utilization of funding resources.
Directs the development and submission of all Human Resources action documentation, and ensures that all actions are completed in accordance with HR policies and regulations.
Initiates recruitment actions for all positions in the GRECC.
Submits compensation panel action forms for physicians including preparing and submitting requests for recruitment and retention incentives.
Informs new employees and trainees of orientation requirements and follows up as appropriate.
Oversees the GRECC mandatory education and training activities and competency plans for employees.
Manages administrative processing for all incoming VA and Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai Fellows and VA Internal Medicine Resident Interns.
Manage the fellowship program's recruitment process.
Advises incoming and current fellows on issues relating to program, rotation requirements, benefits, fellowship program policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Qualifications
In order to qualify for this position, applicants must possess at least one of the following minimum qualifications:
SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE: Possess one full year of specialized experience equivalent to the next lower grade level in federal service. Specific qualifying specialized experience for this position (which should be documented on your resume) is: experience analyzing data and preparing reports; overseeing spending on research grants to ensure spending is on track; initiating human resources recruitment actions; and performing timekeeping. OR
EDUCATION SUBSTITUTION: Successfully completed a Ph.D. or equivalent doctoral degree; OR three full years of progressively higher-level graduate education leading to such a degree; OR an LL.M. that is related to this position. NOTE TO APPLICANTS: One year of full-time graduate education is considered to be the number of credit hours that the school attended has determined to represent one year of full-time study; if that number cannot be obtained from the transcript, 18 semester hours will be considered as one full academic year of graduate study. Physical Requirements: The incumbent performs most of the work in a typical office setting. There is possible lifting and carrying of boxes and equipment.
