About the Position: The position is located in Fort Belvoir, VA. Fort Belvoir is approximately 15 miles southwest of Washington, D.C. and next door to the community of Mount Vernon, VA. Duties
Serves as the installation's representative of the Soldier for Life- Transition Assistance Program (SFL-TAP) performing a variety of administrative, logistical, and related duties in direct support of the program.
Ensures that contract specifications are carried out in areas and activities such as marketing, pre-separation and pre-retirement briefings, client checklist of service providers, classes on resume writing, and interviews techniques.
Counsels of separation entitlements and/or referrals to service providers for further assistance.
Assists with preparation of resumes and cover letters, guidance in job search techniques and effort, and job fairs.
Keeps unit commanders, public officials, employers and similar key players abreast of the program, and in particular, of the policies, procedures, trends, and problems pertaining to the program.
Coordinates with installation officials the sustained support of stakeholder partners for phone service, electrical, and plumbing repairs and upkeep, automation requirements, physical plan security, and safety considerations.
Maintains a budget to fund such services and to purchase personal office supplies, and track hand-receipt items for personal and contractor use.

In order to qualify, you must meet the education and/or experience requirements described below. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes providing pre-separation, pre-retirement briefings counseling of separation entitlements and/or referrals to service providers for further assistance; conducting classes on resume writing as well as interview techniques and guidance in job search techniques and job fairs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the second lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-09).

Education: Ph.D or equivalent doctoral degree or 3 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position.
OR
Combination of Education and Experience: A combination of education and experience may be used to qualify for this position as long as the computed percentage of the requirements is at least 100%. To compute the percentage of the requirements, divide your total months of experience by 12. Then divide the total number of completed graduate semester hours (or equivalent) beyond the second year (total graduate semester hours minus 36) by 18. Add the two percentages.

Time in Grade Requirement: Applicants who have held a General Schedule (GS) position within the last 52 weeks must have 52 weeks of Federal service at the next lower grade or equivalent (GS-09).
Applicants must meet all eligibility requirements and minimum qualification requirements prescribed by OPM within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
