This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Domestic Defense Industrial Base (DIB) & Major Range and Test Facilities Base (MRTFB) in DoD to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: This position is located in the Directorate of Public Works Construction & Transportation Div., at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, PA.

Duties

Conduct visual examination and/or operation to determine type of repair. Perform masonry work such as maintenance, repair and construction of building structures. Operate snow removal equipment to clear assigned areas of operation. Repair roofs by replacing shingles, sheeting or composition roofing. Maintain building records and files for the organization.

Requirements

• Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a SECRET security clearance.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain a valid state Driver's License.
• Must possess or be able to obtain and maintain government operator's license within (120 day) of appointment.
• Must be willing to accept to use personal protective equipment.
• This is a mission essential position and may require shift work and/or work on rotating shifts to provide coverage in the evenings, weekends, holidays and other situations.
• Must be able to lift up to 40 pounds.
• Must be able to pass a physical examination prior to employment and annually thereafter with favorable results.
• Must be willing to accept a term appointment scheduled to last 13 months.
• Must be willing to complete one year trial period.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of a(n) Maintenance Worker without more than normal supervision. Have the ability to perform Maintaining repairs of facilities that include roofing, plumbing, painting, carpentry and cement work; determining completion of repairs; and maintaining records of work orders. Can operate maintenance power tools or equipment. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.- Failure to meet this Screen out Element will result in an ineligible rating. Physical Effort: The incumbent is required to stand, stoop, bend, kneel, climb, and occasionally work in uncomfortable positions for short periods of time. Frequently lifts, carries, and sets up material that weighs 15 pounds and occasionally handles material and equipment that weighs 40 pounds and over. Working Conditions: Work assignments are conducted both inside and outside and the employee is subject to cuts and bruises and occasional falls. Unpleasant odors may be encountered from various working environments. The employee is required to wear appropriate safety clothing.
