About the Position: This position is located at Letterkenny Army Depot in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania, with the Directorate of Industrial Operations.
Duties
Troubleshoot and perform repairs on pneumatic systems to include air conditioning/refrigeration components
Select best work methods to meet acceptable standards and procedures.
Use tools and equipment common to the trade or a specific task, to include electronic test equipment
Determine scope of repairs using blueprints and/or diagrams, work instructions and technical manuals.
Perform metal body construction or repairs on mobile equipment such as shelters and containers.
Install, repair, or maintain electrical systems and their related distribution panels.
Requirements
- Appointment may be subject to a suitability or fitness determination, as determined by a completed background investigation.
- Must be willing to undergo pre- employment and annual physicals.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs.
- Must be willing to accept a temporary position.
- Must be willing to obtain and maintain a valid Driver's license.
Qualifications
This position may be filled as a temporary promotion or temporary reassignment not to exceed 1 year by a current permanent Army employee. Temporary promotions or reassignments may be extended up to a maximum of five years and may be made permanent without further competition.
Position may be filled as a temporary appointment not to exceed 1 year if candidate is NOT a current permanent Army employee. Temporary appointments may be extended up to a maximum of three years.

Minimum Qualifications (Screen Out Element): Ability to do the work of an Maintenance Mechanic without more than normal supervision. Ability to perform common Maintenance Mechanic duties needed for repairing and/or performing preventative maintenance of heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment. Can perform tasks installing electrical systems, circuits, and controls, and/or supply disposal systems such as sewage, water, or gas. Work under normal supervision of a work leader or journey-level employee who observes tasks in progress and upon completion to make sure they are properly performed.

PHYSICAL EFFORT Lifts objects from moderate to heavy weights (Maximum weight of 50 lbs, anything over 50 lbs will have assistance), climbs ladders, scaffolds, and work from platforms. May work in cramped and awkward positions, reaches, bends, lifts while using tools, parts, and/or equipment.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work inside and outside in a variety of weather conditions. Subject to exposure to dust and dirt, grease, fumes, noise, etc. Workers are also subject to cuts, burns, bruises, electrical shocks, etc. Safety equipment is provided to minimize hazards.
