The primary purpose of this position is to provide full technical and administrative Supervision for Outpatient Services. This position is located at the Chinle Service Unit, Division of Nursing, Outpatient Department, Pediatric Clinic, Chinle, Arizona.
Duties
Responsible for supervisory, managing, planning, evaluating, analyzing, and directing the functions of the Pediatric Outpatient Department; responsible for work planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating subordinates.
Approves and disapproves annual and sick leave.
Trains, develops, and orientates subordinates.
Acts as Infection Control Nurse and collaborates with Infection Control department.
Collaborates with all providers to establish unit objectives that are consistent with the goals and missions of the agency.
Provides comprehensive nursing care to patients when needed to supplement staffing or during emergencies or crisis utilizing the nursing process.
Performs the full range of patient care duties and assess medical legal implications.
Develops, monitors, and reviews performance evaluation for subordinates

BASIC REQUIREMENT(S):
Education: A graduate or higher level degree, bachelor's degree, associate degree, or diploma from an accredited professional nursing educational program is required. This education must have been accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (external link), Council on Accreditation of Nurse Anesthesia Educational Programs (external link), Accreditation Commission for Midwifery Education (external link), or an accrediting body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education (external link) at the time the degree was obtained. Degree from Foreign Nursing School: Official certification from the Commission on Graduates of Foreign Nursing Schools (external link) is required for individuals who graduated from foreign nursing schools.
Licensure: For all grade levels and positions, applicants must have passed the National Council Licensure Examination (external link). In addition, they must possess a current, active, full, and unrestricted license or registration as a professional nurse from a State, the District of Columbia, the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico, or a territory of the United States.
In addition to the Basic Requirements, you must also meet the Minimum Qualifications stated below.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Your resume must demonstrate at least one (1) year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level in the Federal service obtained in either the private or public sector.
Basic Requirements for the GS-12 (or equivalent) Grade Level- In addition to the mandatory license and education described above under Basic Requirements applicants must have at least one or more full years of professional nursing experience that is equivalent to the next lower grade level - Examples of Specialized Experience: managing and organizing information; making decisions and leading programs or projects; developing health care plans; providing nursing services and treatments; assigning work to subordinates, and ensuring program meets all accreditation requirements.
MANAGERIAL ABILITIES: This is a managerial position and candidates, in addition to the professional qualifications listed, must have demonstrated in their work experience or training, that they possess, or have potential to develop, the qualities of successful supervision, as required for this position.
Time In Grade
Federal employees in the competitive service are also subject to the Time-In-Grade Requirements: Merit Promotion (status) candidates must have completed one year of service at the next lower grade level. Time-In-Grade provisions do not apply under the Excepted Service Examining Plan (ESEP).
You must meet all qualification requirements within 30 days of the closing date of the announcement.
